The Light Sheer Duet™ uses 2 handpieces. One is a large handpiece that covers areas such as legs and backs quickly (less time, less discomfort) and utilises a suction mode that allows lower energy densities (higher energy densities result in more discomfort). The second handpiece is used for small and more intricate areas. This handpiece has a chilled tip that cools the skin for comfort and safety. Post-treatment the skin may be warm and ice packs can be used to cool these areas.
Your first visit will be a consultation and patch test performed a minimum of 1 week before treatment commences, regardless of any previous laser or IPL treatments at other clinics. This is for your safety and to ensure that the correct parameters are chosen.
Based on the principle of selective photothermolysis, laser hair removal targets the entire hair structure, from the hair shaft down to the follicle. Light energy with a specific wavelength is absorbed by the endogenous chromosphere melanin, resulting in the rapid heating and subsequent local thermal necrosis of the follicles’ regenerative structures.
If your concerns are reducing the amount of hair on your body / or face you may be suitable for Laser hair reduction.
Depending on the area being treated. Underarms usually take no more than 15 minutes where's a full leg may take 45 minutes - 1 hour.
Best results are achieved after a series of 6 - 10 sessions spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart.
During the procedure, people may feel a pinching sensation. Some individuals have described this as a feeling similar to an elastic band being “snapped” on the skin followed by some heat.
The area may be red with a raised rash for up to 24 hours afterwards. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun after laser hair reduction so avoid sun exposure for a few days after treatment and use sunscreen. Your Dermal Clinician will advise you on any other aftercare needed.
Hair reduction: You may start to notice a reduction of the amount of hair after 3 - 4 sessions, however best results and long term result are seen after around 8 - 10 sessions
Your Dermal Clinician will discuss your hair reduction concerns and will assess your skin before your treatment. They will then cleanse your skin to prepare it for the treatment. Before the Laser is applied to the skin, a cold gel may be applied to protect the skin. Your Dermal Clinician will then apply laser post care gel. They will provide you with future recommendations and aftercare.
