What is Body Sculpting and How Does It Work

Body sculpting can target fat cells, tighten skin and even work the muscles in your desired treatment areas, to contour the body in a way that can be hard to achieve through diet and exercise efforts alone.

At Flawless Rejuvenation, we use truSculpt and truBody technology, designed to remove unwanted fat, and tighten and boost muscle mass in the treated areas.

Non-surgical body sculpting

Using monopolar radiofrequency technology, non-invasive body sculpting breaks the underlying fat cells in the targeted area apart, to be naturally eliminated by the body after treatment. Some devices, such as truBody, combine this technology with multi-directional electrical muscle stimulation, to contract the muscles and achieve a toning effect.

It works by placing a handheld device or applicators over the desired areas, that deliver heat to the area for about 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the chosen technology, chosen treatment areas and your ideal results.

To destroy fat cells permanently, truSculpt sends thermal energy (monopolar radiofrequency technology) to the chosen treatment areas, damaging the cells and causing your body to eliminate them over about 12 weeks slowly.

The heat from the treatment can also stimulate collagen and elastin production in your skin, encouraging tightening in the treated areas and preventing any loose skin being left over from the fat cell removal.
truSculpt can be performed in a little less time than truBody, which we will delve into next, taking about 15 to 30 minutes to perform and eliminating up to 24% of fat in one treatment.

Avoiding an unhelpful one-size-fits-all approach to non-surgical body sculpting, we tailor our treatments to each patient at Flawless.

Depending on your personal goals, you can treat your upper arms, back, upper and lower abdomen, inner and outer thighs, flanks, buttocks, or your chin and jawline. We can personalise your treatment, choosing the right applicator size, and controlling the temperature to suit your needs best. This will help you achieve the results you want and feel as comfortable as possible throughout your session.

Our truBody treatment combines the truSculpt treatment, as described above, with truFlex – technology that focuses on muscle contraction and toning. The idea is to offer a comprehensive body sculpting treatment in one session.

If you want to tone up your muscles as well as tighten your skin and eliminate fat cells, this technology can be a better choice for you. Since there’s a little more involved with this treatment, it may take longer to perform than truSculpt, taking about 15 to 60 minutes with an average time of about 40 minutes, depending on your treatment areas and goals.

The truFlex component of the treatment works by placing small electrodes on the desired treatment areas, using electrical muscle stimulation to contract and tone the muscles. Low-level electrical currents are used at high intensity, with three different modes to simulate different workouts.

The treatment is said to work your muscles similarly to how they will behave during a workout, in a more direct, targeted and controlled manner and of course, without needing to do the actual workout!

Will I need more than one session

When it comes to the number of sessions you will need for either truSculpt or truBody, it will ultimately come down to your personal goals and the features of your desired treatment areas.

Factors that can come into play here are the amount of fat you wish to remove, the amount of skin tightening you want to achieve and the level of increased muscle mass you hope to reach.

All of these factors can be thoroughly discussed during your consultation! We will create a personalised treatment plan, that will set out how many sessions of your chosen treatment you will need, and how often you will need to have them.

Results of body sculpting

Now, when it comes to the results of your chosen treatment option, it will all depend on how your body responds to the treatment and the personalised details of your treatment.

Essentially, results can vary per patient, and there is no ideal, optimal one-size-fits-all result that we aim to achieve for everyone as this does not deliver the natural-looking outcome that non-surgical contouring can create.

When we discuss your treatment plan during your consultation, we can give you a good idea of how your results can look and what you can expect after your treatment. You will want to be as open and honest with us as you can about your desired results, so we can tailor the treatment as appropriately as possible.

Since the treatment works by allowing your body to naturally eliminate the damaged fat cells over time, results are not immediate and can take about 12 weeks to show. The time frame is about the same for the muscle-tightening component of truBody.

Initially, it is normal to experience some downtime, as well. Although, since both technologies are non-invasive and non-surgical, downtime should be quite minimal and should not last for more than half a day after treatment. You can feel some warmth, touch sensitivity and fatigue in the treated areas, as well as notice some light bruising. Of course, all of these post-treatment experiences should not last and will fade as your body heals.

Ultimately, it’s important to have realistic expectations and patience when it comes to your desired results!
